CU and SES accession requirements should not be eased for new applicant countries

States which seek membership in the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space (SES) should go all the way Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan went, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Science and Industry Association, economist Georgy Grits told media as he commented on the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit in Moscow. The Troika member states approved the roadmap of Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. The heads of state agreed to continue the work on Kyrgyzstan’s entry to the abovementioned integration associations. “The countries which are showing interest in joining these organizations should go all the way Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan followed. We cannot give way to new exemptions, new sorts of informal agreements just in order to expand the Customs Union,” Georgy Grits said.
“The Eurasian Economic Commission should become maximally operational and go into the first half of the year 2014 with the minimum of exemptions and limitations,” the expert said. Georgy Grits stressed the importance of the meeting taking into account the considered issues and adopted decisions.
