Belarus claims gold at WAKO World Kickboxing Championships in Turkey

Belarusian fighters have won one gold and one bronze medal at the WAKO World Kickboxing Championships which concluded in Turkey’s Antalya.
Belarus was represented by Darya Masharo, who came in third in the ladies’ soft style (with weapons), and Veronika Dombrovskaya, who snatched gold in the ladies’ soft style (open hand) competition.
Taking part in the WAKO World Kickboxing Championships were 79 countries. The Belarusian Federation of Kickboxing and Muay Thai noted that such styles as K-1 and Muay Thai are developing in Belarus actively while semi-, light and full-contact styles have not been equally popular so far. However, the federation plans to pay much more attention to the development of these styles in 2014, too. It added that in the 1990s Belarusian fighters who competed in semi-, light and full-contact styles were widely known all over the world.
The Belarusian team have praised the professionalism of referees and living conditions during the WAKO World Kickboxing Championships in Antalya.
