A Belarusian delegation is taking part in the Eighteenth Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention, the governing body of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) that opened in the Hague. Belarus’ delegation is led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Mikhnevich. The delegation also includes Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Belarus’ permanent representative at OPCW Yelena Gritsenko and Deputy Director of the Department for International Security and Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Alexander Ponomaryov. The head of the Belarusian delegation spoke on the opening day of the session. He presented Belarus’ position on the key points of the agenda of the session. He emphasized that Belarus remains committed to its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.
