The military cooperation strategy developed by the CIS Defense Ministers Council will enable each participating state to find its niche and be involved in maintaining security in the post-Soviet space taking into considering common interests and national priorities, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev said at the 65th session of the Council in Moscow.
Sergei Lebedev noted that the CIS Defense Ministers Council is working to ramp up and expand multilateral military cooperation between the CIS member states.
He informed the members of the Council about the results of the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State held in Minsk on 25 October. He noted that the participants of the session discussed cooperation in security matters and passed midterm interstate targeted cooperation programs to combat crime, terrorism, violent manifestations of extremism, illegal trade in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, and human trafficking.
