Icons from Belarus to go on display in Hungary in 2014

Icons from the collection of the National Art Museum of Belarus will go on display in Hungary in 2014, Director of the Museum Vladimir Prokoptsov told media. The exposition will travel to three Hungarian cities - Budapest, Szolnok and Kecskemet. The art project is a response to an exhibition of works by Hungarian artists "Hungarian Rhapsody. Artists of Szolnok” from the Janos Damjanich Museum in Szolnok.
Speaking about cooperation between Belarusian and Hungarian museums, Vladimir Prokoptsov noted that this cooperation would not be limited to organization of exhibitions only. The parties will exchange scientific publications and art plein airs.
An international project, Pen and Chagall: the Master and the Apprentice, is under consideration at present. “We will unite them by taking the works of Yehuda Pen from the collections of the National Art Museum of Vitebsk and the works of Marc Chagall from the Hungarian museum collections,” Vladimir Prokoptsov said. He added that Hungarian counterparts are invited to partake in the 2nd National Museum Forum that is due in Gomel in 2014.
