Belarus’ harvest reaches 8m tonnes of grain

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested 8 million tonnes of grain so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of early 31 August, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) were harvested from 96.3% of the planned area (2.094 million hectares).

According to the update information, harvesting was completed on 98.2% of the target (350,300 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 91.4% (329,000 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 97.7% (340,700 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 96.3% (300,700 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 97.6% (447,700 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 96.4% (326,000 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Agricultural workers harvested millet from 3,580 hectares, or 30.3% of the target, threshing 8,720 tonnes with the average yield at 24.4 centners per hectare. Buckwheat was cropped from 5,200 hectares (15%) with 7,010 tonnes threshed (the average yield - 13.5 centners per hectare).

Rapeseed was cut from 323,900 hectares of land (89.5% of the designated area), with 843,100 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 26 centners per hectare).

The procurement plan for 2022 will make up 811,400 tonnes of grain.
