The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a draft decision of the EEC Council to increase customs duties on certain dairy products. The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission is expected to study the matter next week. The decision of the Board will come into force simultaneously with the decision of the council regarding customs duties on dairy products.
The Eurasian Economic Commission was established upon the decision of the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan at the end of 2011. It is a single permanent regulating body of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. Its members are Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Other countries can also join the organization. The major objective of the EEC is to create conditions for smooth operation of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space and to work out proposals to promote integration.
