Belarusian, Russian customs services work hard to stop sanctioned imports

The State Customs Committee of Belarus in association with the Federal Customs Service of Russia has suppressed a number of schemes used to deliver sanctioned goods to the Russian Federation, the press service of Belarus’ Customs reports. The Belarusian customs service has stepped up control at the border for the sake of detecting illegal schemes and securing the effective control over the observance of Russia’s sanctions against selected imports. Over the last seven days the Brest division of the Belarusian customs service stopped seven trucks used to transport sanctioned fruits and vegetables. Three batches of merchandise weighing a total of about 55 tonnes were arrested due to discrepancies between the country of origin information in forwarding documents and the actual markings on the transported products. Apart from that, the Belarusian customs service uses mobile teams outside border crossings for the sake of enforcing the Russian sanctions.
