The Olympic winter sports center Raubichi is playing host to the Belarus Open Summer Biathlon Championships. The competitions featured three pursuit races on 1 October. Three-time champion of the 2014 Sochi Olympics Darya Domracheva of Belarus finished first in the women’s event, while medals in the men’s race were claimed by Ukrainian athletes, with Sergei Semenov clinching gold, BelTA has learned.
Darya Domracheva covered the distance in 29:46 minutes with three misses in 20 shots, finishing almost four minutes ahead of her closest rival. It is Domracheva’s second victory in the current competitions. She won the women’s sprint two days before.
Second place in the race on 1 October went to Ukraine’s Olga Abramova. Third came in Belarus’ Darya Yurkevich.
Partaking in the Belarus Open Summer Biathlon Championships apart from Belarus and Ukraine are representatives of Russia and Lithuania. The Raubichi competitions are one of the preparatory stages for the forthcoming winter biathlon season. Once the current competitions are over, the Belarusian team will hold a training camp in Finland.
