Belarus intends to pay off all its foreign debts in 2015. The statement was made by Prime
Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich at the session of the Presidium of the Council of
Ministers. The session tabled a draft law on the central state budget for 2015.
The head of government mentioned priorities of the bill.
(record)
“First of all, as we think about the balance of the budget for 2015, we should understand
that we have to settle all the foreign debts. It is a sacred duty. We’ve borrowed the money
to modernize the economy. We should honor all the commitments of ours.
Close attention has to be paid to the balance of currencies, in particular, to the
preservation of the country’s gold and foreign exchange reserves.
As far as social and economic development tasks are concerned, we should look into these
matters taking into account the need to further bolster both national security and the
national economy on the whole by developing the real sector, by taking care of earnings of
individuals.
The next year will be a special one because the five-year period is drawing to its end. This
is why the government and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus should work
particularly hard”.
