Belarus, Russia to work out long-term food supply strategy

Belarus and Russia will work out a long-term strategy regarding the supply of agricultural produce made in Belarus, Belarusian Vice Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy said after the Moscow talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. "We want our economy to function as one whole," said Mikhail Rusy.
The parties also agreed to work together on possible mutual investment in agricultural production in order to replace imported goods that can be produced in Russia and Belarus. “The third area is the common agricultural policy. It was already endorsed at the highest level and, I think, will soon be adopted,” said Mikhail Rusy.
According to him, for the past two years, Belarus and Russia have been compiling food supply balances in the Union State. "This system allows us to properly allocate the production volumes as we know specific consumers," said Mikhail Rusy. He noted that Belarus and Russia agreed to balance, within a month, food supplies for 2015, with specific amounts by product.
