Parts of art reproductions from the collection of the National Art Museum will decorate trains in Minsk metro soon. The underground art campaign will mark the 75th anniversary of the country’s biggest depository of cultural valuables, BelTA quotes the museum. Six paintings have been selected for the project. Among them are works of the Russian, West-European and modern Belarusian art.
Approaching the arriving train, passengers will see reproductions of the works of Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Vitaly Tsvirko, Ivan Khrutsky and others.
Founded in 1939, the National Art Museum is the country’s largest depository of national and foreign cultural values. It is also a scientific and methodological center. A unique collection of the works of the old Belarusian, Russian, West-European, Eastern and modern national art is a national pride of Belarus. Expositions, subsidiaries and fund depositories contain over 27,000 masterpieces.
