Belarus, UAE to coordinate efforts to combat human trafficking


        Belarus and the United Arab Emirates are set to coordinate efforts in combating trafficking in persons. The matter was discussed at a roundtable session that was held in Dubai, the Belarusian Embassy in the UAE reports. Belarus and the UAE have agreed to consider drafting a bilateral agreement on coordinating joint efforts in combating human trafficking.  The roundtable session was timed to the first ever United Nations World Day against Trafficking in Persons. The session was arranged by the Belarusian Embassy in the UAE and the UAE National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. Taking part in the session were representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Interior, Prosecutor-General’s Office, Justice Ministry, Ministry of Health of the UAE, Emirati NGOs, the regional branch of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
       The participants of the discussion emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to combat this issue, praised the Belarus-UAE cooperation in this field and discussed how this problem is addressed in various countries.
