Belarusian saber-fencers anong top ten at 2014 U23 European Championship Fencing Championship

Two Belarusian saber-fencers entered the women top ten in individual competitions at U23 2014 European Championship Fencing Championship in Tbilisi. Three Belarusians made it to the knockout round, and in the 1/8 finals two of them - Daria Andreeva and Anna Ivanischenko - had to face each other. Andreeva won and progressed to the quarterfinals. Her position in the final report was 6th. Another Belarusian saber fencer Palina Kaspiarovich eventually became the 8th, having deafeted Phadadze Mariam from Georgiain 1/8 finals, but losing in the quarters to Italian Rebecca Gargano. A bronze medal of the European Junior Championship went to Belarusian Sergei Shachanin. The best result among Belarusian fencers in personal competition belomgs to Alexander Lukashevich with the 15th place. He was knocked out in the 1/8 finals, losing to Turkish athlete Tevfik Babaoglu.
