Belarus to increase food exports to Moscow

Belarus has plans to increase the export of agricultural produce to Moscow by up to 15% in the next years, Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told reporters recently. The volume and types of foodstuffs to be shipped to Moscow in 2015 were finalized in Minsk by the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and the Moscow Department of Trade and Services. According to Leonid Zayats, Belarus’ agricultural exports to Moscow were estimated at $657 million in 2013. This positive trend is likely to remain in place. “We believe that we still have huge reserves,” the minister underlined.
The Russian Federation and its capital city import a significant part of food products from Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Belarus is ready to offer its products instead. After all, Muscovites are fond of Belarusian food products and are always happy by its quality, head of the Moscow Department of Trade and Services Alexei Nemeryuk said.
