The 2013-2014 Union State Literature and Art Award will be bestowed upon Belarusian sculptor Ivan Misko, Russian art critic Inessa Slyunkova and USSR People’s Artist Vladimir Zeldin, First Deputy Culture Minister of Belarus Vladimir Karachevsky told media in Vitebsk, BelTA has learnt.
People’s Artist of Belarus Ivan Misko will be awarded for a series of monumental art works. Russian art critic with Belarusian roots Inessa Slyunkova will be honored with the Union State Award for books on the history of Belarus’ architecture. Outstanding theater figure Vladimir Zeldin will receive an award from his role in the musical Man of La Mancha.
Vladimir Karachevsky noted that Vladimir Zeldin would not be able to come to Vitebsk. The award will be presented to him in Moscow. The awarding of the two other prizewinners will be held at the Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk.
The three Union State Literature and Art Awards are presented once in two years. The man criterion for selecting the winners is the contribution of their work in the strengthening of the relations of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
The 23rd international festival of arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk will take place on 10-14 July. It is expected that partaking in the forum will be representatives of about 30 countries.
