Over 100 businessmen from Belarus and Lithuania, including representatives of 45 Lithuanian commercial companies, take part in an extended session of the business councils for trade and economic cooperation of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania. The event takes place in Minsk. The session is designed to bolster trade, economic and R&D cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania, seek out new business partners and share the best practices. The sides are going to develop a program outlining economic activities and events in 2014 and also sign protocols of intent relating to the implementation of investment projects. The session participants look into doing business conditions in Belarus considering the country’s membership in the Customs Union and on Lithuanian investment opportunities. They also share experience in the implementation of investment projects in Belarus and exchange views on several issues and ways of addressing them.
Thanks to constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation in transport and transit, Belarus-Lithuania bilateral trade totaled $750 million in 2013, up 20% from the 2012 figures.
