Belarus and the UN country team maintain a high level of mutual understanding and trust, Sergei Aleinik, the Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic, National Coordinator for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, said as he met with UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus Rasul Baghirov, BelTA has learned.

The dialogue was a good opportunity to return to a substantive discussion of multifaceted cooperation, which is developing successfully despite the objective political difficulties and global challenges currently facing the international community, Sergei Aleinik emphasized.

Sergei Aleinik noted at the meeting: “Despite the contradictions hindering the normal sustainable development of states and the prevention of conflicts, Belarus and the UN country team maintain a high level of mutual understanding and trust.”
The parties compared notes on the implementation of the Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030, which covers an extensive set of joint activities.

Sergei Aleinik expressed gratitude to the UN for its constructive assistance and noted the country’s significant achievements: the progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus is over 82%, and the country is confidently moving toward the fullest possible indicators by 2030. These achievements are organically woven into national strategic documents: the National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2040 and the priorities defined at the Belarusian People’s Congress.

For his part, Rasul Baghirov reaffirmed his commitment to maintain close partnership, noting the principled position and personal involvement of the Belarusian side. The UN resident coordinator shared his work plans through the end of the year, focusing on regional development projects, support for the institution of the family, and socially responsible business initiatives. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the successful practice of implementing SDG-related activities covering every region of the country.
