Belarus working to open Morocco market to dairy exports

Belarus is working to open the Moroccan market for the export of dairy products. The matter was discussed during a meeting of Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister, Director of the Veterinary and Food Oversight Department Ivan Smilgin and inspectors of Morocco’s National Office for Food Safety, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The visit of the Moroccan inspectors is aimed at an independent evaluation of the compliance of Belarusian manufacturing facilities with Morocco’s veterinary and sanitary requirements and technical regulations. The parties coordinated the delegation’s stay program in detail and discussed criteria for evaluating manufacturing processes as well as organizational and logistical aspects of the forthcoming inspection trips.

Ivan Smilgin noted the openness of the manufacturing processes. “The Belarusian side demonstrates full openness for the inspection. No special preparatory measures are required since ensuring high product quality is our systemic daily work. We are ready to provide the delegation with comprehensive assistance. The format of our interaction is built on the principles of full transparency, which allows promptly and constructively resolving any relevant matters,” he said.

The Moroccan delegation’s working trip will last for a week. The foreign specialists will visit a number of processing enterprises in order to personally make sure of the reliability of the Belarusian quality control system for the products. The inspectors will study the entire value-added chain: from the control of raw materials and agrotechnical operations in the fields to laboratory tests of finished products and mandatory certification procedures.

Successful completion of the audit will become the final stage of the reconciliation procedures. As the press service noted, it will allow officially opening the Moroccan market to Belarusian dairy producers, which will contribute to increasing the export potential of the industry and to bolstering trade and economic ties between the two countries.
