Dinamo Minsk wrapped up the year 2013 with a solid 4-0 win over Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in a KHL game at Minsk Arena. The victory ended the team’s five-game losing streak.
This great game for Minsk fans was spoiled by the news that one of Dinamo’s leading players Geoff Platt was leaving the team. After his last game with Dinamo Minsk on Sunday he said good bye to the Belarusian fans in Russian and noted that five seasons in Minsk were the best ones in his life so far.
In January 2014 the Canadian (he has a Belarusian citizenship) will join KHL’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. This year Geoff Platt has played 40 games for Dinamo Minsk, going with the team’s best 28 points.
Despite a shutout victory Dinamo completed the 2013 year on the last, 14, place in the West, collecting 39 points after 40 games. Minsk goes 21 points behind the playoff zone. As soon as New Year’s holidays are over the Bisons will embark on a six-game road trip. On 23 January Dinamo Minsk will host Severstal Cherepovets at Minsk Arena.
