Belarusian MPs observed the parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan as part of the CIS election observation mission representing the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State. Belarus was represented by Mikhail Savanovich, member of the permanent commission for international affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, and Nikolai Kazarovets, Chairman of the permanent commission for education, science, culture and social development of the Council of the Republic. The CIS election observation mission has released an interim report on election monitoring. The final report will be published after the parliamentary elections. The mission has been given a mandate in line with Turkmenistan’s law. In its work the mission is guided by universally recognized principles and provisions of the international law pertaining to the organization and holding of elections, including non-interference in the electoral process. The mission is working openly and publicly and its activities are covered by media.
