The Festival of Modern Choreography in Vitebsk opens new horizons for contemporary choreography

         The Festival of Modern Choreography in Vitebsk opens new horizons for contemporary choreography, Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov told a press conference in Vitebsk. The press conference was timed to the opening ceremony of the 26th International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC). He added that this is a really important event for Belarusian cultural life. The Culture Minister went on saying that the forum gains momentum from year to year because each time everything should be done even better. A presentation of special books “Contemporary dancing in former Soviet countries” and “A labyrinth of dancing” was held as part of the press conference.
        The books are dedicated to the history of contemporary choreography and the festival in Vitebsk.
The opening ceremony featured performances by the Perm State Theater “Yevgeny Panfilov Ballet”, the dance company Fresco, the theater of modern choreography D.O.Z.S.K.I. (Minsk), the ballet Street Jazz (Moscow), Arts Printing House (Vilnius) and the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus that will perform the ballet Six Dances.
