CSTO urges reforms at OSCE

          The CSTO urges reforms of the OSCE and its institutions, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told media after the consultations of the CSTO member states to discuss the OSCE issues and coordinated actions of the CSTO member states in international organizations. “The consultations highlighted the need to reform the OSCE and its institutions, including the adoption of the charter of the organization, harmonization of the consensus rules for election observation by the ODIHR, the adjustment of activities in the field of human rights, relaxing visa requirements and execution of the freedom of movement throughout the European space.
         The meeting participants exchanged the views on measures to redress the geographical and functional imbalances in the OSCE and turning the OSCE into a full-fledged international organization working for the benefit of all states- parties and for the sake of strengthening security and stability and overcoming the dividing lines in the zone of its contractual responsibility. The meeting also discussed various aspects of the implementation of “Helsinki + 40”.
