Zas: CSTO is not fully prepared to respond to hybrid attacks

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not fully prepared to respond to hybrid attacks, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“There are various forms of influence: purely military means, economic sanctions, information influence, and political pressure. When all these forms go together, we call it a hybrid attack. I would say that the CSTO is not fully ready to this kind of impact,” Stanislav Zas said.

According to him, there are objective reasons for this. “Our organization was originally designed as a military and political organization that would repel military threats to our states. A dramatic transformation has taken place over the span of 20 years. We are increasingly turning into an integrated platform for ensuring the security of our states. I am talking not only about military threats, but also terrorist threats, drug trafficking, cybercrime. The interaction between our states is increasing and the scope of activity of our organization is expanding, and this is right,” the CSTO secretary general explained.

Stanislav Zas believes that at the moment the organization is not fully prepared to fight back hybrid attacks, “but we are working on it”.
