Venice Commission informed about proposals for amending Belarus’ Constitution

Deputy Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus Natalya Karpovich took part in the 127th plenary session of the European Commission for Democracy Through Law (Venice Commission) online, BelTA learned from the Constitutional Court website.

According to the source, Natalya Karpovich informed the Venice Commission about the work of the commission in charge of preparing proposals on amending the Belarusian Constitution with a focus on proposals affecting the competence of the Constitutional Court.

Participants of the session passed the Venice Commission’s conclusions on amendments to Hungary’s Constitution, on compliance of Russian parliament bills on foreign agents with international human rights standards, on compliance of the Turkish law on preventing the financing of the spread of weapons of mass destruction with international human rights standards, and on draft amendments to election laws of Armenia and Georgia.

The 127th plenary session of the European Commission for Democracy Through Law (the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe) took place on 2-3 July.
