The exposition displays the Old Testament Trinity icon (Abraham’s Hospitality) of the 18th century from the Polotsk National History and culture Reserve, Christ Pantocrator of the 18th century from the collections of the National Art Museum, and Do not Lament Me, Mother of the mid 19th century from the Grodno State Museum of Religion History. “In gearing up for the celebrations of the Baptism of Kievan Russia, the museum, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and IT Penetration, decided to issue an envelope with three stamps featuring the images of the best icons. The envelope cancelation ceremony took place on Monday with the participation of the President of Belarus and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. Today our museum displays the original icons,” Director General of the National Art Museum Vladimir Prokoptsov told media. Belarusian museums treasure the specimens of the Orthodox culture and keep them open to the public. According to Vladimir Prokoptsov, the Exhibition of Three Icons opens a whole circle of events dedicated to the Baptism of Kievan Russia. In September the National Art Museum will host an international exhibition of Orthodox icons from Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Moldova and other Orthodox countries.
