Belarus welcomes election results in Venezuela

Belarus welcomes the results of the election in Venezuela which took place on 14 April and which resulted in victory of Nicolas Maduro, reads the official statement of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus. “The elections were held in the organized manner and in accordance with the existing election regulations and generally accepted democratic norms.  The results of the election do not raise any doubt as to their legitimacy and is the evidence that the people of Venezuela support the country’s policy of strong sovereignty and political stability undertaken by the previous leader Hugo Chavez,” reads the statement.

As noted by the Foreign Ministry, Belarus and Venezuela share the relationship of strategic partners.  “We highly value the constructive role which this country plays in international and regional issues. We enthusiastically interact with Caracas to maintain and further our collaboration which includes a number of significant joint projects. We are positive that the successful relationship with Venezuela will continue to grow and strengthen which meets the interests of both of our countries,” said the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
