Belarus Customs to take over transport control at border in 2013

Customs authorities are expected to take over transport control functions at the Belarusian border checkpoints in 2013, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told media. The Committee plans to take measures in 2013 for the customs authorities to take over transport control functions at the Customs Union border. Thus, efforts of the customs service will be channeled into putting into practice the principle “two services at the border”. It is one of the tasks the Belarusian customs service is supposed to accomplish in 2013. The performance of the customs service in 2012 will be discussed at a session of the board of the State Customs Committee on 18 January. The session will be chaired by the Committee’s Chairman Alexander Shpilevsky.
In 2012 efforts of the Belarusian customs service were aimed at modernization for the sake of compliance with international standards. Customs technologies were also improved to create a barrier-free environment for business. All the targets set by the law on the national budget for 2012 and controlled by the State Customs Committee were hit, the source underlined.
