The U.S. Government will support cross-border cooperation between Euroregions, including Belarus, Ethan Goldrich, Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Minsk, said at the international conference “Through Cooperation between Euroregions towards Sustainable Development”, in Gomel.
Euroregions is a platform for preservation of cultural ties, historical heritage and traditions of frontier regions of Belarus and their neighbors. It allows them to become part of the world economy and at the same time preserve their unique features.
“Location in the heart of Europe is a unique resource and advantage for Belarus. We consider the Euroregions as an effective way which Belarus can use for its frontier territories to benefit and promote local economic development via integration of the Belarusian local business into the world business community,” he noted.
Partaking in the conference were representatives of eight countries: Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, the U.S., Italy and Germany. The event featured all Belarusian Euroregions: Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Bug, Dnieper, Neman, Ozerny Krai.
