Members of the Customs Union will be able to supply Russia with foods made from products subject to Russian sanctions if these products are processed on the territory of the Customs Union, Russia’s Vice Premier Arkady Dvorkovich said at a meeting with Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, BelTA reports. “Of course, our partners in the Customs Union might benefit from this situation, as they will process part of the products that were earlier directly delivered to Russia,” Arkady Dvorkovich said.
The Russian Premier expressed hope that the sanctions will not last too long. He reminded that Russia banned the import of some products 10 days ago. The embargo was a forced and reciprocal measure. Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that these measures should not be detrimental to Russian consumers and the domestic food market. They should not result in food deficit and price rise.
