Belarusian freestyle wrestlers have won eight medals at two international tournaments in Dabrowa-Gornicza, Poland, we learnt from the Belarusian Wrestling Federation.
According to the federation, 13 representatives of the Belarusian men’s national team competed at the 27th Waclaw Ciolkowski Grand Prix which featured about 120 athletes. Women competed at the 23rd Poland Open Championship which included 93 participants including eight representatives of Belarus.
The men’s tournament brought six medals to Belarus. Silver was claimed by Azamat Nurikov (70kg) who fell to Russia’s Soslan Ramonov 1-6 in the final. Several athletes finished fifth and eighth adding points to Belarus’ overall standings which ranked 2nd (88 points). The first place in the overall standings was claimed by Russia (110), with Poland going 3rd (43).
At the Poland Open Championship leader of the Belarusian women’s national team Vasilisa Marzalyuk took the second place in the 75kg category. Maria Mamoshuk (63kg) claimed bronze. The total overall standings among the teams are as follows: 1. Russia (92), 2. Mongolia (74), 3. Poland (44.5), 4. Belarus (36).
