Operation Bagration memorial project to be financed by Union State
Construction of the memorial in honor of Operation Bagration will be financed from the budget of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota said recently as he inspected the progress in the project in Svetlogorsk District, BelTA reports.
This is a very good idea, said Grigory Rapota. It was one of the greatest operations of the Great Patriotic War which culminated in the complete liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. "It is only logical that the memorial will be erected in the place where it started," said Grigory Rapota.
He stressed that all works on the site will be completed by 21 June 2014 when we will mark the 70th anniversary of the start of Operation Bagration, Grigory Rapota noted.
