Rumas: No problems in the excise policy between Belarus, Russia

There are no big problems in the excise policy between Belarus and Russia today, Belarusian representatives in the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Rumas told media as he commented on the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council summit that took place in Minsk, BelTA reports. “Russia and Belarus have almost harmonized excises on alcohol and tobacco. The Finance Ministries have a time schedule for their leveling off. There are no big problems in the excise policy between the two countries,” the expert said. He admitted there are bigger contradictions in the issue with Kazakhstan. In this respect the Russian Federation and Belarus on one side and Kazakhstan on the other will do their best to elaborate a timetable for balancing these excises. As it has been reported earlier, the heads of state instructed the Eurasian Economic Commission and the governments to finalize the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty in order to submit the document for signing at the Troika summit in Astana on 29 May.
