Lukashenko highlights role of Eurasian Charter in UN renewal process

The Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century will contribute to the process of renewing the UN and to shaping a culture of interstate conduct based on mutual respect, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the SCO Plus summit in Bishkek on 1 September, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that UN member states are currently selecting a new secretary general. At the same time, the renewal of the UN depends not so much on who leads it, but on fostering a culture of interstate conduct grounded in mutual respect and dialogue the Belarusian leader stated.

“I am convinced that the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century will contribute to this process,” the president stated. “At the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, the negotiation process on the development of the Charter will be officially launched. In practical terms, it will begin in the capital of Belarus this November at the annual Minsk Conference on Security. Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite you to this conference.”
