Belarusian documentary about Minsk ghetto to be aired by RTVi satellite channel in U.S.

On the day of the 70th anniversary of the Minsk ghetto liquidation which is marked on 21 October, the Pobeda cinema house will screen the documentary The Minsk Ghetto Chronicle, a new flick from the creators of the Countdown project of the ONT TV Channel. Simultaneously, the documentary will be broadcast by RTVi, the world’s largest Russian-language satellite TV channel in United States.
For many years it was thought that the story of the Minsk ghetto was over on 21 October 1943. Few people knew that several Jewish families - 26 people were hiding in the basement of the house which stood on the edge of the ghetto. They had their own record of the Minsk ghetto, which was nine months longer than the official story
For more than a year script writer Boris Gersten collected the materials for the documentary in the archives of Belarus, Russia, and Israel. Director Vladimir Lutsky used historical re-enactment to recreate the atmosphere of the Minsk "factory of death". The film features the ghetto prisoners, historians, witnesses.
