Foreign currency sales exceed purchases by $16.6m in Belarus in May 2022

In May 2022 Belarusians sold $16.6 million worth of foreign currency more than they purchased, BelTA learned from the statistics released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

In May 2022 individuals bought the equivalent of $800.3 million in cash and cashless forms and sold $816.9 million worth of foreign currency. The net sale of foreign currency by individuals in January-May totaled $445.9 million.

In May 2022 Belarusian economic entities bought $174.1 million worth of foreign currency more than sold, according to the National Bank. Legal entities of Belarus bought $2.119 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $1.945 billion in May 2022.

In January-May 2022 legal entities’ purchases exceeded sales by $501.3 million.
