Poland starts building border fence in Belovezhskaya Pushcha

Poland has started the construction of a border fence on the territory of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, BelTA has learned.

Belovezhskaya Pushcha is a single cross-border area. Poland has decided to build a fence on its border. The length of the fence, which will run along the park, will be 64km. According to available information, the works have already been launched at three sites. “Yesterday I called our border outposts on the territory of Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Construction works are underway in three sites – Grodno, Kamenets and Svisloch districts,” Vasily Arnolbik, Deputy Director General for Science and Ecological Education in Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, said.

Experts gathered for a round table in the national park on 17 March to discuss ways to prevent negative consequences of the construction of the border fence in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
