CSTO working on proposals to normalize situation in Central Asia

The CSTO Secretariat, the CSTO Joint Headquarters and operational groups of ministries and agencies of the CSTO member states are taking part in a joint management decision simulation on 29 September – 2 October. The simulation is run by the CSTO Crisis Response Center via a videoconference with restricted access, CSTO Spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA. “During the simulation game the parties are working out recommendations for the Collective Security Council to normalize the situation in the Central Asian region of collective security taking into account the developments in Afghanistan,” the press secretary said. At the first stage, consultations are held with the CSTO member states and a series of political and diplomatic measures is agreed. “In the event of aggravation of the military and political situation in the region, the second stage of the simulation will be held to develop proposals regarding the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system,” the press secretary noted.
