Bobruisk district hosted celebrations in honor of return of the miracle-working Gorbatsevichi icon of Mother of God.

           Celebrations opened with a cross procession. 300 Christians from the Minsk, Mogilev, Bobruisk eparchies and local villagers covered 12 km from the Iversky church in Bobruisk to the Rizopolozhensky church in Gorbatsevichi village. In a small chapel the Bishop of Bobruisk and Bykhov Seraphim hallowed the icon.
         After the celebrations the icon was taken to the Bobruisk eparchy. The icon will take its historical place after the village gets a new church. The foundation of the church will be laid in 2013-2014.
The history of the icon began in the 17th century. In the 20th century it was lost in unclear circumstances. Not long ago it was found out that the library of Vilnius University had kept the album by Dmitry Strukov which contained a sketch of the Gorbatsevichi icon of Our Lady. Tatiana Astakhova, an icon painter from Minsk, made an exact replica of the ancient icon.
