Belarus, Russia reduce illegal migration rate 14 times

Belarus and Russia have reduced the illegal migration rate 14 times since a corresponding agreement was signed two years ago, Deputy Director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia Anatoly Kuznetsov told reporters following the 12th session of the coordinating council of the chiefs of the competent authorities for combating illegal migration of the CSTO member states.
“Besides the framework agreement, we also signed an agreement to combat illegal migration in border areas. Since the agreement was enforced over two years ago, we have made substantial progress in this field. Last year the illegal migration rate dropped 14 times,” Anatoly Kuznetsov said referring to cooperation with the Interior Ministry of Belarus.
CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha added that there are unified migration cards, and integrated record keeping and control systems. “At present the two services work figuratively hand in hand having the same agenda and the same plan, which naturally generates great results,” he emphasized.
