Minsk hosts Lithuanian Movie Poster exhibition

Minsk hosts the exhibition Lithuanian Movie Poster as part of the 21st Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, BelTA reports. Lithuanian Movie Poster is a retrospective of the Lithuanian cinematography in the art of film posters. The exhibition items placed on the modern large format stands fully reflect the trends in the development of the Lithuanian movie posters over the period from 1953 to 2010.

The exhibition features rarities of the Lithuanian art of film posters from the collection of the Lithuanian Theater, Music, and Cinema Museum in Vilnius. One of the posters Dawn at the Neman River dates back to 1953 and reflects the living conditions after the Second World War that were very dire. In the 1970s the situation changed when graduates of the Vilnius Academy of Arts (former Vilnius Institute of Arts) actively participated in different movie poster competitions. Sometimes there were several posters created by different artists for one and the same film.
