Azerbaijan-Belarus friendship society praised for promoting cultural ties

        The Azerbaijan-Belarus friendship society helps promote parliamentary, academic and cultural contacts between the two countries, Chairman of the Supreme Attesting Commission under the aegis of the President of Azerbaijan Academician Arif Mekhtiev said at a session at the Belarusian Embassy in Azerbaijan. A solemn session of the Azerbaijan-Belarus friendship society reviewed the work of the society over the past five-year period. Taking part in the event were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolai Patskevich, deputy chairman of the friendship society, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Ziyad Samedzade, members of the friendship society, including prominent statesmen and public figures, businessmen, scientists, and cultural figures.
        Ziyad Samedzade noted that the friendship society together with the embassies had conducted over 30 humanitarian events.
