Smolensk to host final stage of Union State Olympiad for School Students

      The final stage of the Union State Olympiad for School Students “Russia and Belarus: Historical and Spiritual Unity” will take place in Smolensk from 26 October to 1 November, the Union State Permanent Committee reports. The Olympiad has a qualification stage and a final stage. In 2014 the qualification stage took place from 2 September to 30 September in 22 Russian regions, Minsk and all regions of Belarus. Participants of the competition wrote papers to analyze a poem or a prosaic text. The final stage is traditionally divided into two mandatory rounds (to write an essay and to do a comprehensive test in the Russian language and literature) and creative contests. It is expected that 180 school students from Belarus and Russia will take part in the competition.
     The Olympiad for school students is included in the cycle of specialized events of the Union State dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
