Belarus’ President partakes in Kupala Night festival

Every person should be the architect of their own fate and should not look for some magic “fern flower”, Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko said at the Kupala Night festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) that took place in the agrotown of Alexandria, Shklov District, on 5-6 July, BelTA has learnt.

According to the head of state, the success of the festival is in many ways due to its venue. Indeed, Alexandria is located at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, while the Dnieper River once was an essential part of the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks. This trade route played a key role in the formation of the entire European civilization. It is the place where representatives of different ethnicities and cultures exchanged commodities and ideas. “The traditions of business and cultural cooperation are still alive. This year three famous trade fairs have been arranged here – Alexandria Fair, Nizhny Novgorod Fair and Sorochyntsy Fair. Famous artists and artisans flocked here from all over Belarus, Russia and Ukraine,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“We remember that Russia, Belarus and Ukraine made a huge contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today, our peoples should preserve and promote the Slavonic brotherhood,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. Alexander Lukashenko wished that the Dnieper will always be the river of friendship.
