A postal stamp featuring Belarusian horuma has been submitted for the best of Europa Stamp Design Competition 2014, we learnt from the Belpochta mail service.
The theme for this year's competition is “National Music Instruments” honoring the role musical instruments play bringing music to the lives of Europeans throughout history.
Belarus has submitted the stamp released by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Belarus. The stamp features horuma, an ancient Belarusian musical instrument resembling a pumpkin ball with a zhaleyka inserted in it.
The stamp circulation is 81,000 copies. The First-Day-of-Issue dedication ceremony was held at the Minsk central post office. A set of First Day Covers was developed in conjunction with the stamp release. The stamp was designed by Artem Rybchinsky.
