IIHF World Championship starts in Minsk

Team Belarus is capable of showing good results at the upcoming IIHF World Championship, IIHF President Rene Fasel told media at the official welcoming ceremony in Minsk. The IIHF head noted that it is hard to make any predictions for the championship. Rene Fasel singled out 5-7 strong teams, including Switzerland, Sweden and Finland. He expressed confidence that Belarus would also demonstrate good results and reach not only a quarterfinal but a semifinal as well. According to the official, it is hard to say who is going to win. Of course being a Swiss national Rene Fasel expects a lot from his native team.

Assessing Minsk’s preparations for the world’s sport forum, the IIHF President stressed that the city is ready for the championship. “We talked to the teams and judging by their impressions, they are happy with everything,” the IIHF head said.
