Der belarussische Präsident Alexander Lukaschenko hat Juri Seliwerstow, der bisher das Amt des Finanzministers bekleidete, zum Botschafter von Belarus in Russland ernannt. Juri Seliverstow wird nebenamtlich auch als Vertreter von Belarus in Integrationsstrukturen fungieren und erhält die Befugnisse eines stellvertretenden Premierministers.
Alexander Lukaschenko erzählte, dass der Leiter der Präsidialverwaltung Dmitri Krutoi Juri Seliverstow als einen strengen, energischen Menschen charakterisiert habe, im positiven Sinne des Wortes unruhig, bereit, „durch das Land, Nachbarländer und andere Länder zu reisen“.
„Ich dachte mir, warum sollte ein solcher Mensch nicht in Russland arbeiten, wo er in den Regionen präsent sein, mit den russischen Regionen zusammenarbeiten und die Hauptrichtungen unserer Tätigkeit in der Russischen Föderation kontrollieren muss. Und vor allem im Handel”, bemerkte der Präsident. „Sie sind mit diesen Problemen bestens vertraut. Sie kennen die wichtigsten Probleme, die wir in den belarussisch-russischen Beziehungen haben. Ich bin zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass Sie von allen vorgeschlagenen Kandidaten wahrscheinlich am besten für die Arbeit in Russland geeignet sind.“
„Wir sagen oft, dass die Botschaft in Russland nicht einfach nur eine Botschaft ist. Es ist eine zweite Regierung. Denn es ist unser Hauptmarkt, auf dem wir unsere Produkte verkaufen. Und es ist das wichtigste Land, das in unser Land investiert und uns immer hilft. Es ist unser Russland. Deshalb kann man nicht einfach irgendjemanden dorthin schicken. Das Niveau muss stimmen, ebenso wie das Wissen und die Bereitschaft zu arbeiten. Deshalb haben wir uns für Ihre Kandidatur entschieden“, erklärte Alexander Lukaschenko.
„Sie, Juri Michailowitsch, haben an Treffen teilgenommen, sogar auf höchster Ebene, und sich mit den Problemen vertraut gemacht, die wir haben und die es zu lösen gilt. Angesichts Ihrer Flexibilität ist das genau das, was ich brauche“, sagte der belarussische Staatschef.
Was die bisherige Arbeit von Juri Seliwerstow als Finanzminister angeht, so merkte Alexander Lukaschenko an, dass er keinerlei Beanstandungen habe. „Da ich weiß, dass Sie ein so ruhiger Mensch sind, habe ich immer versucht, Sie anzuspornen, damit Sie, Gott bewahre, niemandem zu viel aus dem Haushalt geben“, bemerkte der Staatschef mit einem Lächeln. „Allerdings gab es solche Fälle bei uns nicht.“
