Białoruskie Koleje od 2010 roku inwestowały na cele elektryfikacji niemal 500 mlrd rubli białoruskich. O tym w Mińsku powiedział kierownik Białoruskich Kolei Uładzimir Marozau. On przypomniał, że obecnie są prowadzone prace budowlane elektryfikacji odcinku Homel-Żłobin. Ponieważ są to dość poważne prace, więc Białoruskie Koleje powinne zachowywać odpowiednie tempo, odznaczył Uładzimir Marozau. Trwają prace projektowe dotyczące odcinku Żłobin-Kalinkowicze. W 2014 roku Białoruskie Koleje planują rozpocząć budownictwo na odcinkach Żłobin-Kalinkowicze i Mołodeczno-Gudogaj-granica państwowa z Litwą. Kierownik Białoruskich Kolei podkreślił, że elektryfikacji jest nadawane szczególne znaczenie, biorąc pod uwagę to, że wykorzystanie transportu elektrycznego pozwoli obniżyć koszty własne przewozów, podwyższyć ich prędkość i ekologiczność. Po raz pierwszy w ciągu ostatnich 30 lat Białoruskie Koleje realizują wielki projekt elektryfikacji w ramach IX Ogólnoeuropejskiego Korytarza Transportowego odcinków Homel-Żłobin-Osipowicze i Żłobin-Kalinkowicze. We wrześniu roku bieżącego został elektryfikowany odcinek Osipowiecze-Żłobin (107 km) oraz zorganizowano regularny ruch pociągów elektrycznych w kierunku Mińsk-Żłobin. W wyniku długość linii elektryfikowanych przewyższyła 1 tys. km. Także Uładzimir Marozwu poinformował, że strona białoruska inwestuje ponad 90 mln dolarów na cele elektryfikacji odcinku Mołodeczno-Gudogaj-granica państwowa z Litwą. Około 85% tej sumy to zasoby kredytowe. W 2010 roku Białoruskie Koleje i Litewskie Koleje umówiły się o wspólnej realizacji projektu „elektryfikacji kierunku Mołodeczno-Gudogaj-granica państwowa-Kena-Nowa Wilejka”. Wspólna grupa robocza uzgodniła wymogi techniczne projektu. 6 grudnia roku bieżącego w Mińsku uroczyście obchodziono 50. rocznicę elektryfikacji Białoruskich Kolei. W 1963 roku został otwarty dla ruchu pociągów elektrycznych pierwszy elektryfikowany odcinek Mińsk-Pasażerski-Olechnowicze, długość którego wynosiła 48 km.
