Schwedischer Politiker zum NATO-Beitritt seines Landes: Das Volk wurde nicht gefragt

Als über den Beitritt Schwedens zur Nordatlantischen Allianz entschieden wurde, seien die Schweden nicht gefragt worden. Diese Meinung vertrat Bo Jonsson, schwedischer Politiker und Vorsitzender der Initiative „Vereinigtes Schweden“, in der aktuellen Ausgabe von „Thema im Gespräch“ auf dem YouTube-Kanal der Telegrafenagentur BelTA.

„Die Frage einer schwedischen NATO-Mitgliedschaft steht seit langem auf der Tagesordnung. Unser Land arbeitet seit vielen Jahren im Rahmen von Militärübungen mit der Nordatlantischen Allianz zusammen. Und Schweden ist der NATO sehr schnell beigetreten, ohne Volksabstimmung. Die Menschen hatten kein Mitspracherecht. Viele Leute waren schockiert“, sagte Bo Jonsson.

Der schwedische Politiker wies darauf hin, dass die schwedische Regierung zunächst gegen eine NATO-Mitgliedschaft des Landes gewesen sei, dann aber plötzlich ihre Meinung geändert habe. „Wenn man strategisch denkt, hat Schweden eine ideale geographische Lage in Bezug auf die NATO. Aber das ist nicht das, was die Menschen in Schweden wollen. Wir hatten nicht die Möglichkeit, ja oder nein zu sagen“, betonte er.

Zwar habe es in Schweden Demonstrationen gegen den NATO-Beitritt gegeben, doch seien diese nicht sehr groß gewesen, fügte Bo Jonsson hinzu: „Die Menschen in Schweden sind es gewohnt, dem zu folgen, was ihnen die Regierung und die Medien sagen. Aber die Menschen, die sich für Politik interessieren, waren verärgert, dass sie nicht die Möglichkeit hatten, Ja oder Nein zu sagen. Es gab kein Referendum, die Entscheidung wurde sozusagen hinter unserem Rücken getroffen“.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
