Belarus nimmt den fünften Platz im Außenhandelsumsatz Russlands ein. Das sagte der außerordentliche und bevollmächtigte Botschafter von Russland in Belarus Alexander Surikow beim Treffen mit dem Vorsitzenden der Gebietsexekutive Brest, Konstantin Sumar. Ihm zufolge pflegten heute Russland und Belarus feste regionale Kontakte: 80 russische Unternehmen hätten die Verträge mit den belarussischen Regionen unterzeichnet.
Neben der Handelskooperation entwickeln Belarus und Russland auch industrielle Produktion zusammen. "Wir bilden ein dreiseitiges Konglomerat – die Zollunion und der Einheitliche Wirtschaftsraum. Dieser riesige Markt kann nach dem Beitritt Russlands zur WTO die nationalen Wirtschaften einer bestimmten Gefahr aussetzen“, sagte Alexander Surikow. Der Botschafter hob dabei die Frage über den Interessenschutz der nationalen Produzenten und über die Aufrechterhaltung ihrer Wettbewerbsfähigkeit auf anderen Märkten hervor.
Konstantin Sumar verwies seinerseits darauf, dass das Gebiet Brest die Handelsbeziehungen mit 100 Ländern entwickle. Dabei sei Russland einer der wichtigsten Handelspartner dieser Region. "Das Gebiet Brest ist immer bereit zu einer fruchtbaren Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Ländern, darunter auch mit Russland. Neue Arbeitsplätze, anständige Löhne und exportorientierte Produkte sind dabei Schlüsselpunkte", sagte der Vorsitzende der Gebietsexekutive Brest.
